Klein Custom Builders is owned and run by Al and Betty Restrepo, a husband-and-wife team based in North Richland Hills. Al builds, Betty runs the office, and their youngest son Nico is learning the craft on site.
Al's story, from Cali to Dallas–Fort Worth
Al's start in construction came early, working alongside his dad on projects in Cali, Colombia. By 1979 he had brought those skills to the U.S., joining Overhead Door Co. and installing garage doors for Pulte Homes.
His work stood out. Pulte Homes brought him on as a builder and enrolled him in its engineering program, and over the years Al earned “Top Builder” awards there. Lennar Homes later recruited him to manage subdivisions and oversee production on large-scale projects.
In 1995 Al met Betty, who was working as a building materials sales rep. They married in 1997, started their own custom home building business in 1999 and incorporated it in 2001. Their youngest son, Nico, joined after graduating in 2017 and is learning the craft as a builder under his dad’s guidance.
