Klein Custom Builders is a family-run custom home builder based in North Richland Hills, Texas, building new homes, room additions and custom garages across Dallas–Fort Worth. Al and Betty Restrepo started the business in 1999. Al had already been building for Pulte Homes and Lennar Homes, by the company's own account.
You deal with the family that owns the company, not a sales office. Al focuses on the building, Betty runs the administrative side, and their son Nico is learning the craft as a builder.

Do you build on my lot?
Yes. Klein Custom Builders builds custom homes on land you already own across Dallas–Fort Worth. If you don't have land yet, finding it is step two of our process: tell us the areas and lot size you want and we'll help you look before any design work starts.
Which areas do you build in?
We are based in North Richland Hills and build across Dallas–Fort Worth. Our homes include projects in Dallas, Mansfield, Keller, Cedar Hill, Arlington, Grand Prairie, Dalworthington Gardens, Lake Worth, Corinth and Lakewood Village, with additions and garages in Southlake, Grapevine, Crowley and Midlothian. We have also built two projects in Austin.
How does the custom home process work?
It runs in six steps: a discovery consultation, land, initial design with architects and designers, budget and selections, construction, then delivery and warranty. You get regular updates and on-site milestone meetings during construction, and the build price is set from the finished plans before construction starts.
How do budgets work for a custom home?
We line your ideas up with your budget at the first meeting, then price the home from real plans. Once the plans are complete we prepare a detailed budget per square foot, with allowances for the parts you'll choose, finalize your interior selections and upgrades, and then give you an accurate build price.
How long does it take to build a custom home?
The timeline depends on the size and design of the home, how quickly selections are made and how long your city takes to review the plans. Once plans and selections are set we walk you through the schedule, then keep you updated with regular communication and on-site milestone meetings. As one example, a client's 750 square foot in-law addition was finished after 3 months, by their own account in a 2013 Angi review.
What does your warranty cover?
Our warranty includes a 1-year finish protection, which covers the plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems in your home. Additionally, we provide a 10-year foundation warranty.
Do you build room additions and garages as well as new homes?
Yes. Alongside new custom homes we build room additions, such as in-law suites, senior retreats, man caves and space for a growing family, and custom garages. Both are designed to match your home's look, down to the brick and siding.
